Hang On 04:52
Smile and dance As the city slips its hands around your throat Get up, and we’ll pay tribute To the bruises we accumulate from every hometown show. There’s love, hate, respect, and mistakes. Some day we’ll work it out. There was never a place that you called home, We’ve all got issues of our own, They’re on the prowl for problems versus truth. So hang on, you never know. Cause we’re not stuck with the cards that we’ve been dealt. And chin up cause its nothing that a 6 pack and a sing-along can’t help. Good kings and queens, pardon me, But it seems that we’re all stuck on the same sinking ship. And I believe that we’ve seen more than enough to give up, But we can will this thing back afloat if we just hang on.

Light departed in all ways, dust and gasses expanding Till all the little fishes found their places along my side. I can say I’ve felt those waves radiate from aching knees That pulsed in time with what’s behind my eyes So can you tell me what’s wrong with writing songs for the undead? And can you tell me what the problem is? We never leave our bedrooms anymore Cause I’ll be hanging with the ghosts in the hall again While you’re swinging from the branches inside my head Cause I’m bringing back the good from the depths of where we’ve been Don’t try to tell me it never fucks with you as it does me The fiery fall of the curling leaves, and the worlds we’re stuck between Well I asked for peace and quiet in this season god forgot, As the latter looms, it’s the first that I really want. With all the patterns I’ve seen swiftly transpire, So sick of fraternizing with these vampires, Swing low, we’ll fill them up, my rotting blood and guts. As my senses adjust to some redheaded cuss In the absence of warmth or shame I’ll refrain.

Oh how the detriment does find its way into our lives, And just makes for wasted time, I’ve seen what it’ll do to your health You know you won’t find clarity in Crater’s, so just sit this one out. Stuck in the same phase, Cold nights, and hazy days spent trembling like a cat in the bath. You gotta stick to your guns, man. I’ve been reading up on the weirdest stuff from the internet. So just turn the porch light on, and lets hang out. Green grass, no gas, lets take a walk. Our lungs are bursting, its not the worst thing, Do you feel different man? You gotta take what you can get and kill it. I know that you’ve got your reasons, man I just hope you don’t believe them, yeah. Cause I’ve seen the ghost that leaves each morning, He puts on your shirt and your shoes, And staring out across the widening gap Between us and all the rest I’ve heard him screaming: “What’s the difference?” “Why mend these fences that should really be replaced by brick walls?” Cause you can’t see what you want to through those windows. A love less green, complete with silver lining. So whatcha wanna do? Why not cut loose? Rally the troops, to party likes it’s a Tuesday. Cause we’ve all got work, but it might be worth it. Somebody line up the jams I need my main man ice cube coming at you at a crazy pitch Cause we all agree that hey, a bitch is a bitch.

They are the worst at wishful thinking The first to cast a stone. I think they’re better left alone. We made our way into that house, past all of those vacant faces waved their flags of feigning doubt, hey man, there’s nothing to see here. As pride just lies on its side in the hallway, Screaming “I’ll get around to it someday,” But for now, just fumble around For a flashlight, or a candle, or other obvious metaphor I’ll likely misuse, as I’m prone to. Safe on back roads, sign language and secret codes. Get carried away, smile and sway, Don’t repeat mistakes we’ve made before, those things I swore I’d stop. Oh well, I’ll try not to break my stride, When I’m cringing at those nights, Some things I’ve said I’d prefer not to relive. They’ve been painting me shades of purple and green, While I wallow between golden sheets. I’ve seen a time or two, a ray of light pour through. Brown paper prisons on my shelf have never helped Contain these things we once so soundly understood. And if you’re thinking about coming to your senses, Well you’re welcome in as long as its for good. We’ll chalk this up to life and love, and all the messes thus created. How the time just flies in a life so separated. Oh, and it wears on me like my conscience unclean, With my eyes so glued to the remnants of my shoes, So all that’s left to do is cleanse this filthy dwelling place And try to break the news to my poor cat.

I think we’re living in the dark Keep falling down so hard but you get used to it, I guess. Just search for solid ground As I struggle to find my way through my unchanged surroundings There were times that I found these things quite comforting But now I’m ready to go. Windows down, we’re getting out of this East of eyes that pry and words that twist Transients and fixtures all the same Through time declining, each day by and by It’s all this standing around that’s kept collective heads down Sometimes I wanna give up Oh will sick complacency dissuade me? Starving city, are you with me? Have you noticed the trend? Can we stop staring down this hole that has no end? Over and over again? We’ve been weary, ungraceful, distressed, but decidedly subscribed Am I content to sit like this and watch the fire die? Sweet burning light sad safety orange to gray Where the heat cuts through night. I won’t say anything. So emerge from the places you’ve been lead, Dismal and infinite. Cause I think I still want to… There’s a light on outside, just where the street divides And I think I still want to, Well, sometimes I wanna make you wanna move. The only, thing left to collect will be our heads Make do, we’ll take 2: concave and curious. We strive. Forthright. Bright red. Harsh lights. Come clean. Old dreams. Tree lines. Porch swings. Unknown. They’ll drone. No love. No hope. Dead leaves, dead trends, dead scene, relentless night. Return, revoke, erase, erode, rewind, realize, repose, reprise
